Week Eighteen – Wherein The Season Has Just Kicked Off

I have decided I am officially an Elder Statesman and am showing my age in so many ways more than merely grey. I met a chap last year who was playing a Michael Jackson track in his car at a show with a rattly noise at the beginning as the then very young actor Macaulay Culkin told his dad it was the best bit (it’s ‘˜Black or White’) and it turned out chap had no idea what the noise was. It’s the characteristic sound made by the old cassette tape, the now ancient and hardly used analogue music recording format. He had never seen one.
Likewise, yesterday when I asked the assembled sound off competitors who recalled the very early sound offs at Wembley Stadium, there was only Jeremy Owen, (who has offspring as old as mine!) who recalled them. I was at Car Audio & Security for their annual open weekend. They had demo cars from many makers and as an all new departure, they ran the first round of the EMMA sound off series for 2012 and it was such a success that before the end of the event, the boss had invited them back for another year in 2013. Incidentally, the Propper Droppers bass contests will still have a round with CAS (date TBA) so they will become unique in having two different sound off formats come visit a dealership for open events.
Despite the impressive amounts of rain, it was a huge success and I have a few photos and a couple of video clips to lay down for you including a childish number plate wobbling clip!
I absolutely adored the RetroSound Model One for all its smarts and installation cleverness do go and have a look at the review. I have Hybrid Unity speakers installed within the test rig and am impressed as hell already so the review will not be too long in coming for them.
Finally and absolutely Most of ALL, I want to offer an absolutely massive Big Up to the skills, vigilance, dedication and implacable technical superiority of our tech team – Switchblade and jexdirectedtech. For when the West German hacker noodged his bloody way up some sort of exploit in the Invision Power Services plot to enable his spambot-bastard-machines to attempt to send e-mails to all users of IPS forums, with ours most assuredly in the firing line, the lads were there. I’m so far from being a Nationalist but HEY! Two wars and a bit of footy Freiherr. Oh, and your poxy kit is now not going to get at ANY site on the server we share with so many. For you are screwed at data centre level Fritz!
By the time I heard about it, the site had been taken down, updated, refettled and majure have-that-you-git manoeuvres made. So bloody well done, you have the awed respect of this fat net-numpty!
Talk Audio the best maintained, guarded and modded forum site on the web.
I’ll go get on then;
