Talk Audio Are Swag-Masters

I was once asked to give away a £24,000 prize car with full mods and ICE as a £5 a ticket raffle prize. It was for Motorworld just after Katie Price came back from the jungle. She had cost them £20,000 as Jordan and was horrid to me. I took  along a great big jelly snake for her and she didn’t think it was funny. Oddly enough no one had told her that when they put their hands over the microphone all you get is an even louder but slightly muffly-edged sound and I did it through my microphone live in front of the small crowd and provoked her into admitting that she and Peter had consummated their love in the Jungle. ‘Yeah but the cameras couldn’t see what was happening under the sheets, could they?’ Was her triumphant response. All part of a memorable day but the best bit was giving the prize out. It was in a different place in the show, in a huge big top. It was so long ago that not everyone’s phone had hands free. So when it was clear that the prize winner was not in front of me in the audience, I asked for a phone and called him up while holding it next to my mouth and the microphone.
I did a full-on Chris Tarrant job on him,, making him sit down and asking him if he recalled getting the ticket. I suddenly let him have it with a ‘You ***ing WON MATE!’ I cried, he cried, a few girlies cried in the audience ( I think ‘cos they had not won owt) It was a career peak and I loved it.

And the point in telling you this? Well, I got a taste for it and managed to swag some valuable kit from our advertisers last year to give away. However, as part of their advertising deal with Talk Audio this year, we have striped a wicked one on your behalf from those sweet people at Harman UK. Distributors of the insane JBL Crown amps and lots of car speakers, as well as being the purveyors of the Infinity car kit and of course their Harman Guide & Play kit for freeing cars from OEM slavery.
We have swiped a cool grand’s worth of kit for each quarter of the year. HAH!
It’ll be JBL, then Infinity, then Harman branded and then another lot from which ever one seems best to thieve for the last plunder. I just have to decide how to award this swag. A vote for the most helpful Forum poster? A prize for the most assiduous banner-clicker? We’ll let you know but in the meanwhile, it’s a cool four grand’s worth of swag we have half-inched and it’ll be given to lucky git readers. Oh you lucky people!
