New Alpine Car – Talk Audio Exclusive
Alpine Electronics’ next demonstration car is to be a BMW five series and Talk Audio will get it first. Phil Thomas, the technician in charge of the project is still dreaming at night time about what exact Alpine system will be going into the car via the clever Alpine Vehicle Hub OEM Integration system, so we cannot report on that yet. What we can tell you is that the Alpine PXE-H650 Imprint-equipped processor is going to be in the car and we at Talk Audio are going to be the first people to review the sound.
Imprint technology uses Tomlinson Holman’s MultiEQ algorithm (As sold for domestic use under the Audyssey banner) as part of a seriously high end Alpine DSP suite that adds time alignment and other automotive specific parameters to the process that together earns the Imprint name. Tomlinson Holman is the guy who THX was named for, just by the way.
This is very serious stuff in terms of just how important this technology really is. This writer is lucky enough to have tried the Audyssey product (like having an expert spend hours to tune your system) and has interviewed Tom recently too, so we’re up to speed. Getting to listen to the new Alpine BMW before any other journalist is a deep compliment and a major exclusive for TA.
