Massive Audio’s new toys
The poor old US Dollar continues to take a pasting and so even though the Euro is slapping the Pound right now the prices of USA sourced goods have never been better. The best distributors of USA sourced kit are passing these price reductions on to the buyers and Axis Distribution is the latest to do so. They are the outfit bringing in Massive Audio as well as Tru Technologies and Atomic and CDT.
We are not certain about the CDT prices although we suspect they may tumble after the CES show – making the value rating on the CDTs we reviewed maybe change, but the Massive discount is fact. New kit will be costing around 20% less.
Meanwhile, Massive Audio have two lovely new black box signal processors to launch. They are the Bass Pro and the Flatline. The Bass Pro is a bass enhancement device that like Boss bass guitar pedals, dbx xds ‘studio ‘boom boxes’ and of course our beloved AudioControl Epicenter, generates extra low-lows of deep bass by interpolation. It adds in extra low harmonics to the bass, way below the natural cut off of the original material. Such things need careful fettling so you get ‘extended frequency’ and ‘depth’ controls to look after the clever DSP process. It has a remote control, a clip indicator led – so you can really get it running at maximum wellie without distortion and a restoration percentage monitor to tell how mad you are going. It puts out a phat 9V of line drive.
The Flat Line is also a line driver but it starts with an OEM speaker level input. It will auto signal sense the music in your system and power up before sending a juicy line out to the front/rear/sub/centre RCA outputs. It is meant to also flatten your EQ curve and remove noise, too. It has an audio input for use with an MP3.iPod player and also features a remote subwoofer amplifier control.
