Free iPhone Apps Weekend!

One of the best things about occasionally being on the BBC Breakfast show blithering about cars (apart from sharing the sofa with the best pros in the business for a brief moment) is just how many people watch the Beeb in the mornings. For a long time after each one, I get the odd call and meet folks who say how startled they were to see me.
Sometimes old friends get in touch and one such is Dave Hornsby. Dave was a keen comix artist as a lad and started at school. It was he who ignited the love of comic art in my soul and I hold him responsible for my buying the £400 rude bits of Robert Crumb in a massive limited edition tome last Christmas! He also can be blamed for BoomZilla and Son of BoomZilla, for even with the graphic genius of Julian Sewell, it’d never have come to be without The Mighty Apocalypse in the fourth form!
So to come to the point, the last piece I did was bang on TA-relevant. It was about a survey the RAC had done regarding distractions in-car. Ventilation and lighting controls were blamed as were the obvious ice and nav things. I said, brilliantly I thought, “you must pay attention…” Yup, lippy piffle as ever…
Thing is, nowadays after spending some time as an artist for Marvel, Dave runs a couple of companies and one, ChilliX”>, does iPhone applications. He was spurred into getting in touch because of PlaySafe, an app especially designed for reducing distractions while playing music from an iPhone in your car. It makes the screen into one big button.
This weekend, you can thieve all sixteen apps and fill your screen for free – all they hope is that a few of you will bash out a review or two afterwards.
TA; bringing you cool free stuff!
