Flagship Distribution are Morel Hard Nuts

Flagship Distribution who deal in the SAS Bazooka bass tubes and liquid cooled amps and so forth, are also the UK distributors for Morel car speakers. Their lines go up to and include some awesome products and indeed, we use a two-way component set of theirs worth some £1,400 as a test reference speaker array for the Talk Audio magazine reviews. They have good excursion and amazing speed, which makes for deliciously high quality full range sound. You can hear nuance of bass and top end through them, which makes them good for reviewing amplifiers and head units. And horribly revealing of less than superb kit when used in a car system. The engineering involved in Morel speakers is often unique. It’s the same engineering approach that made their nation leaders in military technology. Engineers and what they do thrive best in an environment that is not lonely (people don’t understand engineers and so they have to talk to each other to get any kind of stimulating conversation) and a community of excellence breeds this kind of thing. It’s also why you get clots of speaker expertise in some countries more than others – Scandinavia is famed for Sauna, phones and speakers. Israel for speakers and fast-grown carp and other stuff I’m not allowed to write about. ( I do know of two other outfits one pro and one car involved with bass making weapons for the US Military but I know nothing and they’d Guantanamo me if I knew anything and wrote about it -but I am gripped by the thought&;)

Anyway, when a company like Morel brings out a limited edition set of speakers, you pay attention. There were only 500 sets of each of two kinds made for the entire globe. Elate 6 is the product and a 2-way set will cost you a cool £1,300, while a three-way set costs £1,750. Flagship sold all of their allocated ten sets of each almost as they hit the UK to their high end clientele and even managed to secure another allocation of ten sets of three-ways. Morel head office reckon the Brits sell more of this level of speaker than many of their other distributors. They are well beloved of the EMMA crowd.
They arrive in a posh lined box with proper chromed luggage clips that looks like it should have a badass weapon inside. You open it up and find it does.
We will be getting to review a set of these by way of them sending an installed car round (as they say in their circles) so we will report then, Until that time, all we can do is look and go ‘Oooh!’
Oh yeah and here’s a quote from Ronnie Wood, Rolling Stone about his Morels: ‘These fu**king speakers sound better than my studio!’
