DLS Mini Marvels
DLS have unveiled a 6.5″ subwoofer kit for space saving installations and custom builds. The RW6 subwoofer kit comes with two 6,5″ drivers, a 3″ , 24 cm long aeroport and instructions for building various enclosures. The recommended enclosure for these drivers is only 18 litres vented, 0.64 cu.ft gross. This finally makes the possibility of achieving real sub bass in the front of you car a reality and now without the hassle of having to re-build your dash. Obviously they still perform excellently in a conventional boot mounting and are perfect for someone who is looking for a small box or to hide them in a stealth application behind the original trim or in a fabricated ‘rear quarter ‘enclosure.
Recommendations for other enclosure types are also included in the package including singular to four driver options and also a band pass enclosure. Combined with a suitable amplifier this package creates a very controlled deep bass which is more than enough for most bass lovers.
Andy Hefft of AVHQ said ‘when we were told about the introduction of this product and the performance it promised we were sceptical, when we put them in the suggested enclosure and fired them up we were blown away. Since then we have had a great time playing them to our dealers who have simply not believed that it is the only box in the car.’
The RW6 has been specifically designed to maximise its performance as a subwoofer, so whilst this means that the RW6 is unbelievable in a vented enclosure, it does mean that it is not suitable for sealed or infinite baffle applications. The RW6 can be used as a midbass driver, but has to be installed in a vented enclosure (9 ltrs, 0.32 cu ft).
