Audemex MUSCLE

One of the most revered technicians and acoustic alchemists in all UK mobile electronics is a man named Arnot Franses. He was at one time a major player in the sound off scene. These days he spends a fair amount of his time working with enormously powerful marine DC electronics systems and has a specialisation in state of the art power supplies.

He has very kindly loaned Talk Audio one of his finest – a relatively light in mass and not too big in size item to support a battery bank for a show car. Called an AUD RSD-1500-12 it is a 150 ampere continuous supply item that delivers its juice at 13.7 Volts DC – although he has units that will operate at more volts if you need to. There are consumer units with casings that cost more but the basic aluminium cased fan-cooled PSU will set you back £395 + VAT and will even run the likes of Ian Pinder’s Astra van if you have the right fast-inrush capability batteries like the Odysseys we use. You need to use one over gauge tails and also to use a thick mains wire. It delivers so much juice that if you need more than the factual-actual 125A of DC then you will need another full-on 13A mains socket to drive it. A four-way will not do!
Arnot has been on TA for a couple of years and can be PM’d simply under his user name Arnot
