Huets Ice Night A Hit!
Those who went along to the Huets Ice Night at Huets’ shop in Trafalgar Road, Portslade, Hove recently were in for a treat. Not only the first outing for the whole-interior install in a six year Astra project (that cost the owner the same as buying a GT2 Porsche!) but also the first ‘spy’ sighting of the new Kenwood demo car, again a Huets install.
They had a slew of their customers’ cars present, too, from the MTX boomer Golf to the fabulous R32 and the bodacious recovery truck that rocks. Yours truly nagged folks and went through the cars – all except for the BBG Audi estate demo as Chris Bennett was working like a Trojan all night offering all and sundry a taken-through-it listen. They had a daft but brilliant idea of offering bags of Alpine and Kenwood swag to those who were fastest in the video gaming system they had set up in the corner. Of course, this gave advantage to those dissolute enough to have already spent some time practising at home.
They had some bonkers offers on the night, especially on the crazed Orion kit (they are still selling West Coast Customs bass boxes at a mad crunch bargain price, too…) and a goodly few toddled off into the night clutching stuff for their cars.
Pete Huet was seen to crack a grin and reckoned the whole thing had been well worth it. One thing I notice is that the approach at Huets seems to be female-friendly. I met more couples into the cars than I usually do at a big show. The guys at Huets have been well brung up and obviously afford a bit of equality of respect in how they treat women customers. Thus, they attract girls as shoppers and not just ‘cos they also sell pink ice!
