Amps for the “Dream Demographic”
I went to the Professional Footballers’ Association launch of a game on mobile phones. It was in a posh club in the city. The sort with unfeasibly large cubicles in the unisex loos that have huge crockery sinks in them with wide ceramic flat edges, perfect for nose-surfing city types. I admit I was actually shocked! Thing is, it was just the right spot for the uber-posh thing they were doing. Now for the longest time, it has been known that getting your products before the ‘Dream Demographic’ that is premiership football players, you need to be in the pfa magazine. The media director of the magazine was there and I sidled up snidely early to swag her card. I figured that there were certain products that would be just perfect for the magazine.
And this one is just such an item. I have been in contact with the man with a vision behind these amps for some time and while the product was ready, the marketing was not. Now, however, it looks like there is a range of stuff and it is pure and utter delight. High end electronics married with sexy industrial design and absolutely Dubai-grade precious metals used in the final finish. I suspect these will be snapped up, no matter the price. Audio Wave have been in touch and have this release for you&;&;
Audio Wave amplifiers are all hand-built to order from start to finish.
These amplifiers set new standards for design and performance.
The initial three models include two mono blocks, the CR200 and CR200x; and a dual mono, the CR-400. Each amplifier delivers 200 Watts RMS per channel at less than 0.02% THD and features DC and Thermal protection as well as soft start and an anti pop on/off circuit. A remote status display is provided and the built in Butterworth 18dB low-pass filter modules and phase reverse switch make them suitable for use in all kinds of applications.
But it is the outside that will impress the casual observer. Lids are available in a number of stock finishes including 24kt gold, 20kt rose gold and 18kt white gold, with a selection of airbrushed designs also available. The heat sink is created from three rows of vertical posts along the whole length of the nickel base. The solid copper rods, plated to match the chosen case finish, are individually hand turned and dissipate heat so efficiently there is no need for cooling fans.
The Amplifiers operate in class A/B and use Burr Brown op amps and high quality Alps gain controls at the input stages. Audio Wave amplifiers are furnished with huge secondary capacitor reserves (18800uF for the CR200 and CR400, 75200uF in the CRX200) to optimise performance during powerful output peaks. Each amplifier is shipped in its own flight case.
Prices range from £2,999.00 for the CR200 with 24kt top and rods to £6,199.00 for the CR400 with 18kt white gold top and rods.
I want the lifestyle that can need a six grand car amplifier with turned copper rods plated in white gold.
These are so sexy, I called the new lad at Top Gear magazine for their bling pages, too&;..
