Don’t Push Me…
In a world of ever tightening budgets and where previous lines of equipment have evolved to a higher plane, Midbass distribution, the people behind Vibe and Fli Audio have designed a budget brand with balls. Called simply EDGE. The colour theme is orange, with two main varieties within the brand. There is a ‘regular’ line up of stuff with tremendous bang for the buck and funky design features (like those lovely parabolic indented dust-domed cones seen on the likes of Hertz stuff) backed up with absurdly inexpensive woofers and then a variety with bigger ideas about volume and power. So as well as the more normal equipment that’s all about good looks and style to go with the tunes, there’s also going to be a potential to raise some ruckus with the brand.
A demo system has been built within what is known fondly as a Ford ASBO (for our non-UK readers that’s a reference to an Anti Social Behaviour Order – a restrictive order placed by the courts on disruptive, criminally shit-struck youths with bad attitudes) which is of course the 225bhp shopping trolley Focus ST. If the attitude is anything to go by, then EDGE looks likely to be popular with first time system builders with a bit of an opinion.
I guess the plot is that EDGE will reel ’em in and as they grow up they’ll either end up with Vibe’s finest, or rending their nostrils asunder with bass from Black Death systems from the same dealers! Fraser Scotcher of Midbass said, ‘The response to EDGE has been fantastic – it is a youthful and exciting brand at a price people can afford – which is exactly what our dealers have been looking for.’
