BlackDeath – Virulent Bass
Vibe lunch a Viral Attack! With bass potent enough to make your armpits swell up and kill you, the new Vibe BlackDeath subwoofers are an utter no-compromise Sound Pressure Level competitors’ specialist product. Available in either a paper cone with glassfibre reinforcement for dropping phat street tones and wobbling glass at burger joints, or else with an exotic carbon fibre cone and an ability to break windows. Cast chassis, dual big power voice coils, it is designed expressly for thrusting two strapped pairs of the meaty Vibe bass amps called BlackBox Bass 5 into its coils. The magnet weighs in at 8.3kg.
The specifications are seriously no-compromise. At least 1,200 watts are needed to wake one up and its RMS rating is massive 2,500 watts. The ‘peak’ is a silly seven and a half kilowatts! The carbon cone is able to play from 15Hz to 850Hz while the paper coned model’s passband is rated from 10Hz to 850Hz, so both could be used by researchers working on elephant calls.
It wants a serious 4.5cubic foot box to bull roar from and it’ll be loud as despite all the monstrous power handling the efficiency with which these subs turn watts into sound is phenomenal. The paper cone is rated at 92.3dB efficient and the carbon cone has a spec of 94.3dB. Following a fine Talk Audio tradition Vibe are going to send one of these subs off doing the rounds of forum users to get a round-robin test by members in addition to any other coverage on the magazine, which is nice of ’em&;..
