Diamond Audio have recently made a huge investment and completely redesigned all three of their amp ranges at once. The new D3 and D6 range, while looking similar to the much loved existing models, are in fact ‘from the ground up’ redesigned models.
A closer inspection reveals the differences; the D6 range has in fact a slightly smaller footprint, but as the weight per model has actually increased, this suggests there is more of the ‘expensive stuff’ (aluminium) in each model. The reason for this is that each model now makes considerably more power than the unit it is replacing. The D3 range of amplifiers comes in a new brushed aluminium finish rather than the current black painted version. As with the D6 range, power is again increased for each model over last year’s. The terminals have been improved, cosmetically and functionally. Cooling is enhanced by the improved heatsink, and the power supply has been beefed up further. Diamond has introduced a D1 range of amplifiers to complete the range. Starting at well under £200, this is a first for the company. Never before have you been able to get your hands on Diamond Audio quality at anywhere near this price. Three models, a monoblock, plus a two and four channel make up the range, quoted power and distortion figures look very good.
